The Editor

Editor Overview

The YarnSaga story editor is where you build your graphic novel — designing page layouts, generating panel illustrations, adding speech bubbles, and composing your story page by page.

Editor tabs

The editor is organized into five tabs at the top:

  • Characters — create and manage characters used in your story
  • Props — create and manage visual props and locations
  • Story — write narrative text and generate panel scenes for a whole page at once
  • Cover — design your story's cover illustration
  • Settings — story title, description, panel gap, page background, image quality

The canvas itself is always visible — it's the central A4 workspace where your pages live. Switching tabs changes the right-side panel but doesn't move you away from the canvas.

Pages panel

At the bottom of the screen is a horizontal scrollable strip showing all pages in your story. Click a page to navigate to it. The current page is highlighted. Drag pages to reorder them. Use the + button to add a new page.

Left toolbar

The vertical toolbar on the left edge of the canvas gives you tools to add overlays:

  • Speech bubble — opens the bubble picker; click canvas to place
  • Ribbon — decorative wide/tall elements for titles or emphasis
  • FX — action effects, impact bursts, speed lines
  • Text — place a free text box anywhere on the page

Bottom toolbar

Controls at the bottom of the canvas:

  • Strip selector — change the panel grid template for the current page
  • Download / Export — export the current page as PDF, PNG, or JPG
  • Zoom controls — zoom in, zoom out, reset to 100%

Autosave

Overlay changes (bubbles, text, ribbons, FX) are saved automatically with a 500ms debounce — move something, and it's saved within half a second. Panel scenes are saved when you click Generate. There is no manual save button needed.
